The New Season Starts !

A grey, blustery and cold day heralded the start of the new season. All thoughts of how to apply the new ‘mark room’ rules were dismissed as people struggled to rig their boats in the awkward North Easterly wind which made either jetty not ideal for launching. Only the keen made it on to the water with a good few watching from the Club House.

In the first race Howard and Helen in the 12 showed the way chased by the Lasers of Mick, David and Gerard with Sarah in the Topper and Simon in the Topaz having a private battle following on. Most people tested the water in some form or another during the race and Tim thankfully shortened the race in good time for a warming tea break.
The wind moderated for the second race and David lead the way round for two thirds of the race, but Mick got ahead for when it mattered.

Sunday was altogether much brighter and nicer and if you ignored the chill in the air it was a classic Yeadon day. The Commodore rallied the Lasers and the rest of the club also and a good number turned out on the water. Unfortunately for John, Adam demonstrated the benefits of a good winter training programme and didn’t let the Commodore have his moment of glory for long before sailing away from him !

All in all, it was a good weekend and the Club has definitely cranked itself back to life after the long winter layoff.

Thanks to the OODs for the Weekend, Tim and Neil on Saturday and John, Yvonne and Don on Sunday and to Yvonne for supplying the photos
