Race Training Day – 19th April

A group of keen sailors turned up for a day’s race training on the tarn. As well as a general race training session for members it was also set up as a Laser ‘Master’ Class to get the Lasers ready for their forthcoming Open Meeting.

The day started off grey and a little cold, but the first session was in the Club looking at the latest RYA coaching DVD and some film of Adam training at Beaver SC.

As the day brightened up the boats took to the water and tried the delights of ‘follow my leader’ and ‘tacking on the whistle’. After a break and with the wind blowing straight down the Tarn a windward / leeward course was set up with a gate part way up the course. Adam showed the fleet the way up the beat only to fall in whilst kiting down the run, his excuse was he wanted to make a race of it with Phil ! A few short sharp races to follow kept every body on their toes.
The day finished with some longer races in glorious sunshine allowing everybody to a little time to settle and get into a bit of a rhythm.

Thanks are due to Neil for coordinating the event and to Adam, Neil A and Pete S providing the specialist Laser coaching.

Another shorter, more informal, Laser session is to be held on Saturday 25th between 11.30 am and 2.00 pm, please speak to Mick Bower for more information.
