We had a great day at the Club today with Bart's Bash celebrating the life of Olympic sailor and generally all round good guy Andrew (Bart) Simpson. Lots of members came down to race, to watch and to eat the delightful cakes that seem to appear !
Andrew "Bart" Simpson passionately believed that everyone should have
the chance to have access to sailing and enjoy the many benefits that
it brings. The Andrew Simpson Foundation honours his legacy with its mission to increase participation in sailing and improve the lives of disadvantaged young people. Bart's Bash is a memorial to Bart, as well as a mass participation
sailing event and a fundraiser to support the Foundation in achieving
its charitable objectives
.
The money collected today will be donated to the Andrew Simpson Foundation.
Well done to Patrick who mastered the conditions best and won the race at Yeadon today showing everyone how fast a Topper can go ! We now have to wait to see how everybody did when the all the results from all the Bart's Bash events get combined together !
Thank you to Sarah for coordinating the day, Tony and Jon for running the race, Rachel for the photos and Glenis and Barabra for making sure we ate the cakes.
