June Catch Up

Hello everyone....
Another catch up of the past couple of weeks.
June 10th was our second Day Trophy race. It was a great day and well done to Phil, Dennis and Jo. The next one is on July 15th and we'd love to see some more of the less experienced racers, as we are hoping to run an Endurance race which needs teams of sailors. We will pair up experienced and less experienced racers giving a really great opportunity for learning top tips from seasoned sailors. Be at the club at 11.30 and on the water from 1.00pm.
Last Saturday saw some wild weather at 5pm (see photo) so social sailing didn't go ahead....and I am away this Saturday (June 23rd) so can't guarantee anyone will be available to run it.
Tuesday evening was busy...well Richard kept having a rest in the gusty moments! Lots of come and tries and some enthusiastic members. The wind was a challenge so well done everyone for being intrepid and giving it a go.
Commodores weekend is almost here and I have prepared a loose itinerary of events which I will post seperately.
Just to confirm the Club is supplying all the meat or a veggie option for the barbecue. To be able to know how many to cater for it would be great if you could please sign up ...for free at Webcollect events (the same as we use for membership subscriptions). We'd love to see as many as possible and I have had some great offers of help.
If you have a favourite race at a time and day that suits you to run it please let me know so I can start allocating races.
We plan on keeping the juniors busy with fun races to keep them occupied and enjoying sailing. I do hope you can all come along at some point over the weekend.
The committee met on this Monday evening
  • Paul gave us an update about the roof - which is going well and we agreed on an upgrade to the windows.
  • We have had 17 new members...welcome to the Club everyone.
  • We discussed the up keep of the boat park including the tarmac path.  I am going to take this forward.
  • We think the grass is looking worn due to the roofers pulling their van in and we will mark it off once they have finished the work to help the grass repair itself.
  • The committee thanks all those who have offered help in whatever way.
This week I'd like to say thank you to Tim and Andrew who keep the training running....we couldn't do it without you.
I hope the exams went well Harriet and Felix and Jo that your head is healing and welcome you back when you get a moment.
Do make the most of the long days....happy sailing

Sarah
