Hi !
Sarah has been doing a magnificent job coordinating the Saturday Social Sailing sessions after racing finishes at 5,00pm. Unfortunately this Saturday Sarah is not around so please can somebody take over the reins for this week ??????
The Social Sailing sessions are a wonderful opportunity to have relaxed sail in conpany of other members and some practice time. For the session to run we just need a member to take a lead and co-ordinate things and then at the end make sure every thing get put away and the Club and the Dinghy compound gets locked up !
If you are able to help out this week please get in contact so we can let other members know if Social Sailing is on or off this week !
email : info@yeadonsailingclub.co.uk
Many thanks !

June Catch Up
Hello everyone....
Another catch up of the past couple of weeks.
June 10th was our second Day Trophy race. It was a
great day and well done to Phil, Dennis and Jo. The next one is on July
15th and we'd love to see some more of the less experienced racers, as
we are hoping to run an Endurance race which needs teams of sailors. We
will pair up experienced and less experienced racers giving a really
great opportunity for learning top tips from seasoned sailors. Be at the
club at 11.30 and on the water from 1.00pm.
Last Saturday saw some wild weather at 5pm (see photo)
so social sailing didn't go ahead....and I am away this Saturday (June
23rd) so can't guarantee anyone will be available to run it.
Tuesday evening was busy...well Richard kept having a
rest in the gusty moments! Lots of come and tries and some enthusiastic
members. The wind was a challenge so well done everyone for being
intrepid and giving it a go.
Commodores weekend is almost here and I have prepared a loose itinerary of events which I will post seperately.
Just to confirm the Club is supplying all the meat or a veggie option
for the barbecue. To be able to know how many to cater for it would be
great if you could please sign up ...for free at Webcollect events (the same as we use for membership subscriptions). We'd love
to see as many as possible and I have had some great offers of help.
If you have a favourite race at a time and day that suits you to run it please let me know so I can start allocating races.
We plan on keeping the juniors busy with fun races to keep them occupied
and enjoying sailing. I do hope you can all come along at some point
over the weekend.
The committee met on this Monday evening
- Paul gave us an update about the roof - which is going well and we agreed on an upgrade to the windows.
- We have had 17 new members...welcome to the Club everyone.
- We discussed the up keep of the boat park including the tarmac path. I am going to take this forward.
- We think the grass is looking worn due to the roofers pulling their van in and we will mark it off once they have finished the work to help the grass repair itself.
- The committee thanks all those who have offered help in whatever way.
This week I'd like to say thank you to Tim and Andrew who keep the training running....we couldn't do it without you.
I hope the exams went well Harriet and Felix and Jo that your head is healing and welcome you back when you get a moment.
Do make the most of the long days....happy sailing
Sarah

A Coterie of Commodores !
As part of the build up to the 90th Birthday Celebrations we have been looking in the archives. The photo is of a Coterie of Commodores at the Club's last big Birthday Celebration, the 75th in 2003, some sadly are no longer with us.
That year we had a more formal dinner at the Peasehill House Hotel in Rawdon. For this year's 90th Celebrations we are going to be more relaxed and we will be celebrating on the Commodores Weekend 7th & 8th July. We would love all members, ex-members and friends of the Club to join us particularly on the Saturday evening.

Jumping June - Busy week ahead
After Half Term last week with people away it is back to
normal at the Club this week with lots going on !
Tuesday evening was glorious with lots of boats out on the
water – we were actually featured on the Yeadon – Our Community Facebook Page when
someone uploaded photos of the training session in the evening sunshine !
The Wednesday Evening race has just finished with Richard
notching up another win in his Laser.
This weekend there is lots going on with another Intermediate
Training session on Saturday morning with Andrew and the team. The session starts at 10.30 so you can rig and get
changed with a briefing at 11.30 and on the water for 12.00. These are
open to anybody to improve their sailing and racing skills. Please sign up on
our webcollect system at YSC home on WebCollect if
you would like to come to a session.
Then sailing continues with normal Club series races at 2.30pm and 4.00pm, then we finish off with a Social
Sailing Session at 5.00pm.
On Sunday is the second One Day Trophy with 3 races on
the day. These Trophy Days are for everyone, and we hope all our racers
and Intermediate Trainees take part. It will be organised to take account of
everyone's experience and adjusted accordingly. Please arrive 11.30 and racing starts
at 1.00pm and we encourage all members to come along.
This new venture is in response to some of our newer members
being less confident racing and others with family commitments preventing
series racing.
Trophies and prizes will be presented on the day.
If you use Facebook please follow and like the Yeadon Sailing Club Facebook Page, there is lots of current things posted on there and we are raiding our archive of historic and recent photos and information trying to put up lots to interest people
Looking forward to a great weekend on the water.
