Hi everyone.
I seem to have been a little busy over the past couple of weeks ferrying
boys up and down the country but it was lovely to get out on the water
on Tuesday evening...Thank you Richard a lovely gesture.
Tuesdays are still buzzing with all the juniors being guided by Tim. They
are all doing really well and gradually realising head to wind is not
going to get them anywhere. The Intermediates stayed at the bottom of
the tarn where the wind was.
Brian is helping out with Saturday social sailing this week so turn up
before 4.30 to ensure an evening sail and to help with the safety boat.
He wonders if anyone is interested in going to the dinghy show on March
2nd-3rd. 2019 Its £10 each for associated clubs and I know members have
gone together in previous years and have found it to be a great day out.
Please let Brian know if you would be interesting in going.
I know Andrew suggested to those of you who have joined and learnt to
sail this year that you consider getting your own boat next season. If
you keep an eye on the notice board boats do come up for sale. Oscar has
his Topper up for sale at the moment so if you are interested then
leave a note on the board for him with your contact details and I am
sure he'll get back to you....he is away for a couple of weeks.
The Committee met last week and we discussed the new roof.....that still
requires a few tweeks but we're waiting for rain to see what they might
be. Nice to have the shutters open again and the club house looks
loved.
Training is still on next Tuesday as Tim is still with us before he jets off to Chicago. All helpers welcome.
Racing continues Weds, Sat and Sundays....come on have a go!
The next club event is Barts Bash - Sunday Sept 16th
First race at 2.30. Lunch will be provided at a small cost. This event
is in memory of Andrew Simpson (Bart) an Olympic Gold Medal sailor who drowned whilst
training for the America's Cup in San Francisco. The charity organises Bart's Bash as a worldwide event that
encourages as many sailors to get out on the water over 24 hours. Any
funds raised will go to Barts Charity who supports getting people into sailing and racing.
Regards to everyone and enjoy your summer break if heading off.
