Week 3 of the YSC 5 Week Beginners Programme was greeted with a great wind for gybing practice. Members of the group first undertook land based drills using a club Pico and then it was out on the water to put their new skills to the test. Jon graduated this week to the intermediate group scoring 95% in the on-line theory quizzes and I'm sure Chris will not be far behind.
Next week will see the group sailing figure of 8 and sausage shaped courses. Don't forget to sign up for the online theory area by visiting www.yeadonsailingclub.co.uk/training

First social sailing
First social sailing tonight. After a filthy day of storms, heavy rain and not too warm (well Jo Beard got cold) the sky cleared, the wind rose just enough and the sun came out. Bob Dootson reckons he was first out on the water, but really he just carried on sailing at the end of the second race. The Edmundsons came up and Joel and Joe were the first sailors who had specifically come to the social sailing to get out on the water. Andrew Cowling joined them in Bob's Miracle, Paul Bradley set himself a pretty arduous training programme and Eddie Edmundson turned up with a pretty impressive canoe! What a gorgeous evening and a great start to this new initiative. Come next week - don't let the weather put you off, look at how it changed today.
