Laying up Supper
Thank you
all those who attended the laying up I hope you enjoyed it. Special
thank you to all those members who made it possible busy booking the
venue, polishing trophies, engraving trophies, laying out trophies,
setting up, selling tickets, informing, entertaining, packing up etc.
The raffle
raised £80 and has now been donated to the autistic society a
charity that supports families with relatives who have the condition.
So well done to all those who bought tickets.

Talk Night at the White Swan with Tom Stewart of Pinnell and Bax, Wed March 12th
Update to the winter socials calendar as we can now confirm details for an
event on Wednesday 12th March 2014. We have been successful in getting Tom
Stewart a director of Pinnell and Bax to come along and give us a talk on
sailmaking and boat tuning to help us all get ready for the new season so why
not come and join us?
Pinnell and Bax is one of the country’s top boat chandlers and sailmakers and Tom is a National Championship winning dinghy sailor. In the recent Bloody Mary pursuit race with over 300 competitors an amazing five boats in the first ten were using PnB sails including the 1st and 2nd boats!
Tom is currently the National Twelve Class national champion and winner of the Burton Cup and campaigns both a National Twelve and a Merlin Rocket at the highest levels.
Come and join us for a drink or two, pick up some top tips from Tom and finish off with a buffet supper, The event is at the White Swan Yeadon starting from 7.00 for 7.30 and costing a modest £7.00 per ticket.

Come On Down For the Quiz Night, Wed 12th Feb
To help speed the winter months along we are holding a quiz night and social gathering in the White Swan at Yeadon. The fun starts at 7pm ready for 7.30pm on Wednesday the 12th of February with food to follow.
The quiz is general knowledge with some sailing questions mixed in. and a table based quiz on places in Yorkshire. The first lot of tickets will be on sale at the laying up supper, at only £4.50 including Pie and Peas however numbers are limited to 40 on a first come first served basis! If however you require a vegetarian option or have other dietary requirements you will need to contact the White Swan direct! This should be done at least a week before the event. Contact details will be on the ticket, please do not ask on the night.
So flex those grey cells and we hope to see you the night.

Dennis and Jo's Winter Walk (Upcoming Event) Sunday February 9th
Winter Walk
Sunday February 9th
Every year Dennis and Jo kindly organise a winter walk for club members friends and family. This year it will be a trip along the Leeds and Liverpool canal and a trudge up Flashby Fell.
Meet on the A65, 1/4mile before Gargrave Grid Ref 941 545 Leisure Map 10. Park in layby (either side of the road) 300 yards after the bridge over the canal. View it here..
Arrive in time to start walking at 11am
The wal will be about 8miles, bring food and drinks as required, appropriate footwear and clothing. All welcome including family and friends.
